In early 1979, in the basement of the Vecchia Talpa bookshopin Piazza Massimi in Rome, a few classes on comics techniques were held, accompanied by a series of meetings with professionals in the field. The events were organized by Luca Raffaelli, Francesco Coniglio and Silvano Caroti, who in those years also edited the fanzine L’Urlo, a point of reference for the comics scene. Guests included artists of the caliber of Hugo Pratt, Benito Jacovitti, José Muñoz and Carlos Sampayo. Andrea Pazienza and Filippo Scozzari also took part, talking about the birth of the magazine Cannibale and their relationship with the language of comics. The meeting was filmed and rebroadcast several times on RAI channels.
